So funny to look back at everyone's lj posts from last week and count the mentions of Harry Potter... Even though I didn't pay for delivery mine was still delivered as we pulled up to the house on Saturday. I started reading it last night (had to finish another book first) but honestly? I'm more in the mood to read the sequel to the other book right now. Or the latest issue of TIME. The first one I'm actually reading even though I've had the subscription since March. I think it has something to do with the fact that Deadline's protagonist is a journalist. I'm only reading Harry Potter so that I can pass it on to my mom and not leave her in suspence for too long. My boss wants me to hurry and read it too so she can have someone to discuss it with.
Coming back to work always sucks. So much work to do. Kinda seems like someone else could have worked on this while I was gone. Meg and Carol both know how to use IBM and Datatel... Not to mention the other of us... the one who gets the mail, opens it and files and sits doing nothing the rest of the day. No, of course she couldn't take the responsibility of sending out counselor packets to those who write in requesting them (you know, in the mail she opens?). ARG.
I can feel a headache forming... A really bad one... where it doesn't want me to move my eyes. I'd be glad for an excuse to go home but it won't do me any good if I can't read.
Last week was bad. It shouldn't have been at all, but PMS has a way of screwing things up. The scenery was beautiful and the house was great and I love my family but I was irritable and depressed the whole time. Lots of crying. Lots of frustration because everyone took the good comfy couches in the living room and I had to go downstairs to the uncomfortable couches in the game room. Then it was loud or dark or rainy and we were in the middle of nowhere so I had no way to get away from people... Nearest town? Hendersonville, at least a 40 minute drive away. But Hendersonville has a Fresh Market. The good things about the week? Beating my dad and Jason in pool twice. And not by default when my dad lost due to shooting the 8 ball in the wrong pocket or scratching while trying to sink the 8 ball, which he had a tendency to do. I also finally got to swim on Friday. I've been wanting to swim since December. And I jumped off the pool house, and it hurt, but it was fun. I can say I did it. And on the way home we stopped in Lake Lure (okay, technically a town I suppose, but a town consisting of 2 inns, 2 gas stations, 2 restaurants and a $12 beach) to check out the antique car show. I've decided that I'm going to build antique cars when I grow up. As a hobby, not a job. Unfortunately I messed up my favorite pair of shoes walking around in the wet grass. Maybe if I rangle up the patience I'll actually try to do a thorough job of cleaning them. Until then they'll be a bit dingy.
